FAQ โ Functional Drinks
This is the most common concern โ and it's why our retort formulation expertise matters. Standard retort at 121ยฐC can degrade heat-sensitive proteins if the formula isn't optimised. We validate every formulation specifically for retort stability, selecting heat-stable protein forms (e.g. WPC over WPI in some cases), adjusting pH, and using ingredient forms that hold up through sterilisation. Our trial batch process verifies the final nutritional profile matches the declared label values before production begins.
Standard RTD protein drinks are either cold-fill (requires refrigeration, 7โ30 day shelf life) or hot-fill (higher preservative load, 3โ6 months). Retort-processed protein shakes are commercially sterilised โ shelf-stable at ambient temperature for 12โ18 months with no preservatives. This enables pan-India D2C fulfilment without cold chain, and export via standard sea freight.
We currently offer four formats: (1) retort spouted stand-up pouch in 100ml, 200ml and 330ml โ most popular for D2C and retail; (2) retort brick carton in 150ml, 200ml and 330ml โ best for kids and malt drinks; (3) 100ml concentrated wellness shot format in PET or glass; (4) bulk institutional pouches in 1โ5 litres for defense, hospitals and catering. We coordinate the packaging material procurement and brand label printing โ all in-house.
Absolutely. Custom formulation is our core capability for beverages. Share your target consumer, desired nutritional profile, functional ingredients, flavour direction and preferred pack format. Our R&D team develops the retort-optimised formula, runs a trial batch, processes it through our autoclave and sends you samples. Up to 5 iterations are included. A formulation development fee applies and is fully credited against your first production order.
Our minimum starts at 500 units for most catalog formats. For custom formulations and premium pack formats like wellness shots, we recommend 1,000 units to cover trial batch and setup costs. Fortified malt drinks typically have a 2,000-unit minimum due to longer run requirements. All MOQs are confirmed at the quoting stage.
Yes. For UK: we prepare labels in UK FSA post-Brexit format โ correct allergen declaration, nutrition information in the right layout, and APEDA export documentation. For UAE: Halal-friendly formulations are available, and we support UAE food import compliance. The ambient shelf-stability of retort drinks is a major advantage for export โ your product ships as standard freight, no reefer containers, and arrives at a UK distributor's ambient warehouse ready to sell.
